The You Matter Appalachia Internship Program continued this week with a focus on professional development, leadership, and workplace readiness. Interns participated in a series of workshops led by Pam Lloyd, who shared valuable insights on the importance of soft skills and professional presence in today’s workforce.
Throughout the day, students learned how to create effective resumes, develop strong communication skills, and present themselves professionally. Interns also participated in a hands-on Resume Building Lab where they worked on creating and improving their own resumes. Additional activities included elevator pitch development and interview practice, giving students the opportunity to build confidence and prepare for future educational and career opportunities.
The workshops emphasized the importance of teamwork, communication, leadership, and making positive first impressions—skills that will benefit students both personally and professionally. By investing in these areas, the You Matter Appalachia Internship Program continues to prepare local youth to become confident leaders and successful members of the workforce.
The You Matter Appalachia Internship Program is a collaborative effort designed to provide young people with real-world experiences, leadership development, and career exploration opportunities while making a positive impact in their communities.
