INEZ — The Martin County Board of Education will start meeting at a new time each month. The BOE voted Monday to establish the new regular meeting time as 5 p.m. instead of 6 p.m. on the second Monday of each month.

The BOE also appointed District 1 BOE Member Mickey McCoy as the new chairperson, acting on the motion of longtime BOE Chairperson Kathleen Price of District 5.

“I’ve had it for so long, I’ve hogged the position,” Price said.

Following the unanimous vote for McCoy, the board approved Price’s motion to appoint District 4 BOE Member Steven Gauze as the new vice chairperson. McCoy previously filled the vice chairperson position.
