Formal hearing set for Lynn Bark Energy Center’s proposed electric transmission line

A formal evidentiary hearing is set for Sept. 24 on Lynn Bark Energy Center’s proposal to construct a 138-kilovolt electric transmission line in Martin County.

The Kentucky State Board on Electric Generation and Transmission Siting will hold the hearing at 10 a.m. in the Richard Raff Hearing Room at the Kentucky Public Service Commission, 211 Sower Boulevard in Frankfort. The hearing will also be streamed live through a YouTube link posted on the PSC website.

Lynn Bark filed its application with the Siting Board June 16 in Case No. 2026-00096.

The company proposes to construct a nonregulated transmission line up to approximately 6.3 miles long between the Lynn Bark Energy Center’s onsite substation and the existing Inez Substation owned by Kentucky Power Company/American Electric Power Inc.

According to the public notice, the project would be located on 1,514 acres in unincorporated Martin County.

Members of the public may comment at the beginning of the Sept. 24 hearing. Those wishing to make oral comments may appear at the PSC offices before the hearing begins or follow instructions posted on the PSC website (psc.ky.gov) to participate remotely.
