Young Cards shut out Harlan County 44-0

INEZ — The Martin County Youth Football fifth- and sixth-grade Cardinals have opened their preseason in dominant fashion. The squad went undefeated through a Grid-A-Rama before a shutout over Harlan County in the Blue and Orange Bowl.

Martin County traveled to Estill County on Aug. 8 for the Grid-A-Rama and defeated Magoffin County, Breathitt County and host Estill County.

Quarterback Blaine Williams threw eight touchdown passes as Martin County piled up 12 touchdowns on just 29 offensive plays.

Nolan Muncy, Bryson Froschauer, Raylan Preston, Cree Endicott, Richard Sherman, Martin Rudas and Williams each found the end zone during the three-game event.

The Cardinals carried that momentum into the Blue and Orange Bowl at Pike Central on Aug. 15.

Martin County overwhelmed Harlan County 44-0, with the defense holding the Black Bears to negative offensive yardage.
