Duncan leads Cards at Model Invitational

RICHMOND — Martin County sophomore Ryder Duncan led the Cardinals against a strong field Monday at the Model Invitational.

Duncan carded a 79 at Eastern Kentucky University’s home course to finish tied for 40th among 123 golfers. The Model Invitational was a Tier 1 tournament featuring some of the state’s top teams and individual players.

Dylan Hale, Gaven Grace, Caige Presley and Tyler Stacy also competed for Martin County.

The Cardinals now turn their attention to a busy stretch of competition. The Alice Lloyd College Showcase was set for Tuesday at StoneCrest Golf Course with golfers playing nine holes in their respective age divisions.

Martin County will return to StoneCrest on Aug. 8 for the Pikeville Invitational.

The Cardinals’ boys and girls teams will then compete in the All “A” Classic regional tournament Aug. 10 at StoneCrest.
