Lawrence E. Lockwood, 87, of Warfield, died July 26, 2026.
Born March 19, 1939, he was the son of the late Ray and Faye Lockwood.
A proud United States Marine Corps veteran, Lawrence faithfully served his country before dedicating many years of hard work as a coal miner. He was a man known for his quiet strength, unwavering work ethic and deep devotion to his family.
Lawrence is survived by his loving wife, Joyce Fields Lockwood, with whom he shared a lifetime of love and memories. He is also survived by his sons, Stephen (Rebecca) Lockwood of Van Lear and Chris (Mary) Lockwood of Cincinnati, Ohio; his beloved grandchildren, Mahala Ward, Garrett Lockwood, Jacob Lockwood and Sarah Lockwood; his brother, Ronnie (Romana) Lockwood; his sister, Barbara (Howard) Copley; along with many extended family members and friends who will cherish his memory. He was also blessed with a host of brothers and sisters-in-law that he loved and cared for very much.
Though Lawrence’s life was marked by hard work and humble service, he will be remembered most for the love he shared with his family, the example he set through dedication and integrity, and the lasting impact he made on all who knew him. His memory will forever remain in the hearts of those who loved him.
A private graveside service will be held. Arrangements are under the direction of the Callaham Funeral Home, Inez.
