Kentucky State Police Post 9 has released a list of traffic safety checkpoint locations as part of its continuing effort to reduce crashes and enforce state traffic laws.
Troopers periodically conduct checkpoints and increase patrols in areas known for traffic problems. The enforcement efforts focus on impaired driving, valid driver’s licenses, vehicle registration and insurance, and equipment violations. Troopers will also address other violations or public safety concerns they encounter.
Post 9 serves Martin, Pike, Floyd, Johnson and Magoffin counties.
Traffic safety checkpoint locations in Martin County include:
- Ky. 40 in Warfield at Aranas’ Office
- Ky. 292 in Warfield at garage dumps
- Ky. 292 in Lovely at R & J Hardware
- Ky. 40 in front of Kentucky Fried Chicken
- Intersection of Ky. 40 and Ky. 645, at red lights near high school (minimum of 2 officers in 2 separate cruisers)
- Ky. 3 in Inez near entrance to Quail Hollow Apts.
- Ky. 40 and Ky. 1224 Intersection near Tomahawk
- Ky. 292 at Pike/Martin Line
- Johnson Bottom (any suitable location)
- Ky. 3, approximately 8/10 mile north of Johnson/Martin line (minimum of 2 officers in 2 separate cruisers)
- Ky. 1714, at Pigeon Roost near James Jude Grocery
- Ky. 40 in Inez in front of Cardinal Dry Cleaners
- Jct. of Ky. 3 and Ky. 292 (close to Lawrence County Line)
- In front of Pauley’s Market on Ky. 2032
- Jct. of Ky. 1714 and Old #4 Mine
- Jct. of Ky. 40 and Ky. 1884 and Calloway Road
- Jct. of Ky. 40 at Nazarene Church in Beauty
- Jct. of Ky. 292 and Ky. 2031
