Paul Hinkle
1931—2026

Paul Hinkle, 94, of Inez, passed away peacefully July 17, 2026, at his home.

Born Oct. 10, 1931, in Inez, he was the son of the late Printis and Rosa Dalton Hinkle.

Paul worked for many years with Norfolk Southern Railroad before finishing his career at Wolf Creek Collieries Preparation Plant.

He married the love of his life, Mary Louise Bowen, and together they built a large, loving family. Paul was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend. He was known for always having a house full of children and found his greatest joy in spending time with his family.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mary Louise Bowen Hinkle; brothers, Henderson Hinkle, June Hinkle and William “Bill” Hinkle; sisters, Dolly Evans and Edna Baisden; children, Thornton Jackson Watts, Barbara Porter, Virginia Faye Hinkle, Timmy Joe Hinkle and William Harrison Hinkle; and grandchildren, Thornton Jackson Watts Jr., Sandy Smith, David Moore, Billy Joe Moore, Lori Ann Mills Christian, Anthony D. Mills and Ashley Dawn Hinkle.

Those left to cherish his memory include his children, Dennis Ray Hinkle of Inez, Rose (Dennis) Thompson of Harrodsburg, Paul Hinkle Jr. of Inez and Kathy (Doug) Jude of Wheeling, West Virginia; his sister, Polly Irene Bloom of Kansas, Ohio; 19 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and a host of extended family and friends.

The family would like to extend a special acknowledgment to Paul and Sandy Mills of Tomahawk for their love, care and support.

A funeral service was held Sunday, July 19, 2026, at Callahan Funeral Home in Inez.
