Irene (Stepp) Hackney Hensley
1949—2026
Irene (Stepp) Hackney Hensley completed her earthly journey July 16, 2026, surrounded by the love of those whose lives she touched so deeply.
She leaves behind a legacy of kindness, compassion, and unwavering devotion to her family and her savior, Jesus Christ.
Irene was a loving homemaker who found joy in caring for others. She has a passion for cooking and helping others and never missed the opportunity to search for antiques. Her generous heart, warm smile, and selfless spirit will be remembered by all who knew and loved her.
Those gone on and waiting for her arrival were her beloved first husband of 41 years, Truman Hackney; their firstborn daughter, Sharion Yaunk; parents, Jasper and Gladys (Fitch) Stepp; sisters, Susan Mollett, Dicy Stepp and Lena Mitchell; brother, James Henry Stepp; several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; one great-nephew; and her second husband, James R. Hensley.
Those left to cherish her memory are her second-born daughter, Melissa (Jimmy) Dalton; grandsons, Steven (Brittany) Yaunk, Cody (Elizabeth) Dalton and Trenton (Jennifer) Yaunk; and granddaughter, Tara (Josh) Porter; great-grandchildren, Carli, Carter, Cooper, John, Brantley, Shay, Shawnna and TJ; sister, Judy (Gerald) Clark; brothers, Jasper Stepp and Larry Stepp; brother-in-law, Harvey Hackney; many beloved nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews; and countless friends whose lives were blessed by knowing her.
Though our hearts are heavy with sorrow, we find comfort in knowing she has been reunited with those who went on before her and that she is rejoicing in the presence of our Lord.
Funeral services will be held Monday, July 20, 2026, at 1 p.m. at Crum Funeral Home in Inez with Sammy Ray Patrick and Frank Hay officiating. Burial will follow at the Stepp Cemetery.
