Maynard grapples to runner-up finish at Bluegrass State Games

LEXINGTON — Kennedy Maynard battled her way to a runner-up finish at the Bluegrass State Games wrestling competition July 11 at Lafayette High School in Lexington.

Maynard competed in the 14U girls 140-141-pound division, where she continued to make her mark in girls wrestling while representing Martin County against competition from across the state.

The Martin County grappler earned a 6-2 decision over Saniyah Nana before dropping a 6-1 decision to Cing Kim.

A three-way tie left the final standings to be decided by points scored in the matches. When the numbers were tallied, Maynard had earned 10 points to secure second place and another strong showing on the mat.
