The Martin County Health Department was honored to welcome Dr. Lori Caloia, Deputy Commissioner for Clinical Affairs with the Kentucky Department for Public Health, as a guest speaker for the YOU MATTER Appalachia Internship Program.
During her visit, Dr. Caloia introduced interns to the important role the Kentucky Department for Public Health plays in protecting and improving the health of communities across the Commonwealth. She shared how public health programs are developed and supported at the state level and discussed the many clinical and public health services that help keep Kentuckians healthy.
Interns also had the opportunity to learn about Dr. Caloia’s career in public health, her leadership role within the Kentucky Department for Public Health, and the many career opportunities available in the field.
Her presentation provided valuable insight into how state and local public health agencies collaborate to improve health outcomes and address community needs across Kentucky.
