Pike County grand jury indicts nine

PIKEVILLE — The Pike County grand jury returned 12 indictments against nine individuals June 23. Charges range from strangulation and terroristic threatening to drug-related charges and bail jumping.

Frank Beavers, 44, of Shelbiana, stands indicted on one count each of first-degree bail jumping and first-degree persistent felony offender.

Christopher Coleman, 46, of Sidney, has been indicted on charges of first-degree possession of a controlled substance, third-degree possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Jonathan Coleman, 37, of Shelbiana, was indicted on multiple charges that include two counts of first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance while in possession of a firearm, first- and second-degree fleeing/evading, first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance, second- and third-degree possession of a controlled substance, possession of a legend drug and speeding.

Joseph C. Hanny, 50, of Belfry, stands indicted on one count each of first-degree strangulation, fourth-degree assault, third-degree terroristic threatening and second-degree persistent felony offender.

Britia N. Johnson, 39, of McRoberts, was charged in two separate true bills. The first indictment accuses her of first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, no tail lamps and first-degree persistent felony offender. The second indictment charges her with first-degree promoting contraband, first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance and first-degree persistent felony offender.

Franklin N. Kendrick, 83, of Shelbiana, was indicted on a single count of first-degree assault.

Herbert Chase Maynard, 20, of Pilgrim, stands indicted on charges of first-degree fleeing/evading, no seat belt and no license plate.

Carlos Perez, 50, of Pikeville, has been indicted on a single count of second-degree fleeing and evading.

William West, 45, of Pikeville, was charged in three separate true bills with first-degree bail jumping and first-degree persistent felony offender.

An indictment is an accusation. All individuals are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
