
Thelma Jean ‘Nanny’ Booth
1953—2026
Thelma Jean “Nanny” Booth, 72, of Beauty, passed away June 24, 2026.
Born Oct. 19, 1953, at Williamson Memorial in Williamson, West Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Walter Marcum and Louise Marcum.
Thelma lived a life centered on family, love and caring for others. She was known for her kind heart and generous spirit, always opening her home and her life to those who needed her. Throughout the years, she helped raise many children, including several of her nieces and nephews, leaving a lasting impact on countless lives. “Nanny” found joy in gardening and took great pride in tending to her flowers and plants. More than anything, she cherished spending time with her family, creating memories that will be treasured for generations.
She is survived by her loving husband, Donald Booth; her daughter, Alison (Tyler) Hensley; one grandchild, Johnna Hensley; her sister and best friend, Phyllis (Jack) Lovins; her sister, Patty (Jay) Eastman; and her brother, Walter Marcum.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Janice May and Carol Meade, and her brother, John “Fig” Marcum.
Nanny will be remembered for her compassion, strength, and unwavering devotion to her family. Her love touched many lives and her memory will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
A memorial service was held Sunday, June 28, 2026, at Kermit Freewill Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society in honor of Thelma. Arrangements are under the direction of the Callaham Funeral Home, Inez.
