Ervin Prentice Newsome
1934—2026

Ervin Prentice Newsome, 91, of Inez, passed away June 24, 2026, at the Martin County Healthcare Facility in Inez.

Born July 30, 1934, in Lovely, he was the son of the late Wayne and Mary (Fitch) Newsome.

In addition to his parents, Ervin was preceded in death by his first wife, Drucilla Newsome; his second wife, Peggy Newsome; one son, Wayne Newsome; one daughter, Christina Dawn (Newsome) Harless; and one brother, Bennie Newsome.

Ervin is survived by one son, James Ervin Newsome of Inez; one sister, Ernestine Moore of Yazoo City, Missouri; and three grandchildren, Blake Harless, Nick Harless and EJ Harless.

Funeral services were held Saturday, June 27, 2026, at Crum Funeral Home in Inez. Burial followed at the Stepp-Newsome Cemetery in Lovely, under the direction of Crum Funeral Home of Inez.
