Pool party to mark launch of Martin County Strategic Plan

CITIZEN STAFF REPORT

INEZ — Martin County residents are invited to a free pool party June 26 to celebrate the completion and public launch of the Martin County Strategic Plan, the result of a six-month planning process led by Blueprint Kentucky and the University of Kentucky.

The “Pool Party & Plan Launch” will be held from 6-8 p.m. at the Martin County Pool, 57 Cardinal Lane in Inez. Admission is free, and attendees will enjoy free food and live music from the Pick and Bow program.

“This pool party will be a great celebration at the end of the planning process,” said Karen Rignall, cultural anthropologist and assistant professor at the University of Kentucky who helped lead the initiative. “We will have tabling for other county resources. We are hoping that folks who want to go to the pool on a Friday evening will just join for the fun and also get informed and engaged.”

Organizers said the strategic plan reflects priorities identified by residents and will help guide community and economic development efforts in Martin County for years to come.

Representatives from local organizations and community resources will also be on hand to share information with attendees.
