Virginia man arrested in Inez

INEZ — A Virginia man was arrested June 3 after Kentucky State Police stopped him for speeding on KY 645 in Inez.

William Anthony Cockrell, 25, of Wirtz, Virginia, was charged with speeding 15 mph over the limit, operating on a suspended or revoked operator’s license, failure to surrender a revoked operator’s license, possession of a canceled or fictitious operator’s license, no registration plates, no registration receipt, failure of a non-owner operator to maintain required insurance, failure to produce an insurance card, and non-payment of court costs, fees or fines.

According to the citation, Trooper B. Hall stopped Cockrell after clocking a 2018 Jeep Renegade traveling 70 mph in a 55 mph zone. A records check through NCIC showed Cockrell’s driver’s license was suspended. The trooper also reported that Cockrell was unable to provide registration or insurance documentation for the vehicle.

All individuals are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
