Vera Kathleen Horn of Inez went home to be with the Lord, Thursday, May 28, 2026, at her home, surrounded by her loved ones.
She was the daughter of the late Isaac and Mary Jane (Hinkle) Mills of Inez.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Clyde Horn; son Darius Trent Horn; siblings Grant, Russell, Luther, Hubert and Clarence Mills; sisters Myrtle Horn, Ovada McCoy and Zelda Harvey; and a special niece, Anna Lee Hammond. She also leaves behind her son-in-law, Lark Daniel Slone and one grandson, Lark Eric Slone.
Kathleen was a devoted grandmother and cherished their visits. In her later years of life, the little ones brightened her days.
Kathleen loved sewing and quilting throughout the years and had a great love for basketball. She was a member of the Turkey Creek Church, where she served as secretary in her younger years. She spent her last few years at home praying and singing, praising her Lord and Savior.
Left to cherish her memories are her children, Wanda Kaye Slone, Brent (Karen) Horn and. Beverly Cassady, all of Inez, and Garfield (Jennifer Horn) of Van Lear; her grandchildren Guy (Barbara) Horn, Cynthia Cline, Wesley Preece, Heather Horn, Brittany (Roman) LaGrange, Kyle (Tracy) Horn, Kacyn Horn, Derek (Andrea) Horn, Brady (Alisha) Horn, Austin (Sheridan) Horn, Lakyn (Israel) Canterberry, Kaleigh Horn and her youngest grandson Waylon. Also surviving are her loving great-grandchildren Emily, Claire, Olivia, Karli, Hallee, Carter, Camila, Layla, Nolan, twins Maverick and Miles, Dallon, Dawson, Daxton, Braylee, Adelynn, Peyton and Ryder.
She will be greatly missed, but her life and all she instilled in us will be lasting memories. She fought a good fight and has run her race.
Funeral services will be held Monday, June 1, at 1 p.m. at the Turkey Creek Church of the Nazarene in Inez with Garrett Mills and Dwayne Mills officiating. Burial will follow at the Horn Cemetery in Inez. Arrangements are under the direction of the Callaham Funeral Home, Inez.
