Robert Wilson Fletcher Jr.
1946—2026

Robert Wilson Fletcher Jr., 79, went home to be with the Lord in the early morning hours of Saturday, May 30, 2026.

Born Sept. 2, 1946, Robert lived a life of hard work and community service. He was given the nickname “Bobcat” by his father and shortened to “Cat.”

Robert spent many years working as a coal miner and logger. He loved being outside, whether working, spending time with family, or simply enjoying nature. He also enjoyed watching his family play baseball and softball.

Robert served District 4 in Martin County as a Magistrate for eight years and as Constable for four years. Throughout his life, he was known for his value of keeping his word to others and his dedication to his family and the people of District 4.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 56 years, Ellen Faye (Jude) Fletcher; his daughter, Barbara Jude and her husband, Rusty; his son, Robbie Fletcher and his wife, Melissa; his grandchildren, Dawson Jude; Latosha Blevins and her husband Benji; CJ Jude, his wife Emily, and their children Madi and Kash; Abigail Savastio and her husband, David, and Eli Fletcher; his brother James Fletcher and a large family of nieces, nephews and cousins.

Robert was preceded in death by his father, Robert Wilson Fletcher and his mother, Susie (Blackburn) Fletcher; his grandson, Jacob Fletcher; his sisters, Edith Jude, Polly Jude, Pauline Preece and Alice Delong; and his brothers, Virgil Fletcher, Willis Fletcher, Elias Fletcher, Tommy Fletcher and Johnny Fletcher.

Above all, Robert treasured his family and the time he spent with them. Though he will be deeply missed, his family finds comfort in knowing that he has entered into the presence of his Lord and Savior and has been reunited with loved ones who have gone before him.

“And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away.” Revelation 21:4 NKJV

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Monday, June 1, 2026, at the Sidney Old Regular Baptist Church in Pilgrim. Burial will follow at the Jude-Fletcher Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of the Callaham Funeral Home, Inez.
