Avanell Hodge
1948—2026

Avanell Hodge, 77, of Kermit, West Virginia, went home to be with the Lord on May 23, 2026, while a patient at Logan Regional Medical Center.

Born July 4, 1948, in Kermit, she was the daughter of the late Jessie and Ora Parsley Fields.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, William (Dude) Hodge; her sons, Randy and Andrew Hodge; her daughters, Gail and Tasha Hodge; her sisters, Lois Fields and Ethel (Snookie) Flemings; her brothers, George L. Fields and Jessie (June Bug) Fields Jr.; and one grandson, William Bradley Muncy.

Avanell was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend whose kindness and devotion to her family touched the lives of many. She cherished every moment spent with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, all of whom brought her immense joy throughout her life. Her warm heart, strong faith and loving spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Those left behind to cherish her memory are her children, William (Sonja) Hodge, Ronnie Hodge, Wanda Maynard, Mark Hodge and Jeffery Hodge; her grandchildren whom she raised, Jessica Copley, Amanda (Lester) Hignite, Britney Hinkle, Linda (Roy) Moore, Polly (David) Woody, Tiffany, Destiny (Justin) Robinson and Marlena (Brandon) Hall. She is also survived by her sisters, Helen Fields and Loretta Fitch; her brother, Michael Fields; her sister-in-law, Eleanor Fields; and a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren whom she loved dearly.

The family would like to extend a special thank-you to her granddaughter, Amanda Hignite, for her love and devoted care, and to a special nurse Megan Kirk for her compassion and kindness shown during Avanell’s time of need.

Funeral services were conducted Monday, May 25, 2026, at the Old Jennies Creek Church in Kermit with Joe Maynard officiating. Burial followed at the Hodge family cemetery under the direction of the Callaham Funeral Home, Inez, Kentucky.
