INEZ — Chloe May and Haruka Kaibori are the Kirk & Crum Law Office Players of the Week.

The pair made program history May 11 at the 15th Region Tennis Tournament in Pikeville. The Lady Cardinals duo became the first girls doubles team in Martin County High School history to reach the regional finals and qualify for the KHSAA State Tournament.

May and Kaibori defeated Pikeville’s Addison Whitfield and Sadie Varney 6-4, 6-2 in the semifinals before battling Lawrence County in a dramatic three-set championship match, falling 7-5, 6-4, 9-11.

The pair will represent Martin County at the KHSAA State Tournament in Ashland on May 20.
