LOVELY — A 19-year-old Beauty woman faces multiple charges after Kentucky State Police responded May 13 to a collision on Evans Hill Road in Lovely.

Trooper L. Layne arrested Hayden Gilman at 1:33 a.m. Charges include alcohol intoxication in a public place, first and second offense, possession of an alcoholic beverage container in a motor vehicle prohibited, no operator’s-moped license, failure of owner to maintain required insurance/security, first offense, failure to produce an insurance card, no registration receipt and no registration plates.

According to the arrest citation, Layne detected a strong odor of alcohol on Gilman’s breath. He said she had slurred speech and difficulty maintaining her balance.

Gilman allegedly told the trooper her boyfriend was teaching her how to drive. The arrest report states that she admitted she had been operating the vehicle. She reportedly stated that after her boyfriend saw police blue lights, he instructed her to pull over and switch seats, then “began flying down the hill,” striking another vehicle.

Layne transported Gilman to Paul B. Hall Medical Center in Paintsville for medical clearance. After she refused medical treatment, the citation states, Layne took her to the Big Sandy Regional Detention Center.

All individuals are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
