DEBORD — What began as a routine eviction in a Debord home unraveled Monday when a woman claiming to be a CIA agent allegedly threatened to kill both Donald Trump and Joe Biden, landing her in jail on first-degree terroristic threatening charges and drawing federal attention, authorities said.
According to the criminal complaint filed by Martin County Sheriff’s Deputy Zach Waller, an elderly Debord resident (not identified) and her family member filed an eviction request Monday morning in the Martin County Attorney’s office to force Kristi Lynn Kadar, 50, of Akron, Ohio, to leave her home.
Kadar had begun an online friendship with the elderly homeowner approximately six months ago on TikTok and allegedly had been invited to come to Martin County to stay in her home. Over the past few months, deputies responded to calls of concerned family members who believed the elderly lady may have been in an unsafe environment and/or was being taken advantage of.
“Each time we would respond, the homeowner would tell us everything was fine and did not appear to be in any distress,” Martin County Sheriff John Kirk said. “She was competent and making her own decisions and there was no apparent danger to her safety.”
Sheriff Kirk said it is unclear what happened to change the elderly lady’s mind about her houseguest continuing to live with her. But once the eviction notice was entered into court, he sent Deputy Waller to serve Kadar with the paperwork.
“Ms. Kadar became belligerent once she realized why my deputy was there,” explained the sheriff. “She was screaming and was extremely angry, and then proceeded to tell Deputy Waller that she was a federal agent, and then switched that to being CIA, claiming to be above the law and able to be anywhere she wanted. She refused to comply with court orders and was placed under arrest and charged with impersonating a peace officer.”
On the way back to the courthouse, once she had been placed under arrest, a threat of killing both President Donald Trump and former President Joe Biden led to another charge of terroristic threatening, first degree, Kirk said.
“Federal charges may be brought against the defendant,” he added. “She continued with the threats while in booking, and three individuals witnessed this.”
Kadar reportedly provided numerous names and Social Security numbers to the deputy. Without proper identification, her identity was unclear for a period of time until she was officially booked and fingerprinted. Law enforcement called the U.S. Marshals Service for assistance in validating the information.
Kirk said Kadar claimed she was going to murder both President Trump and Biden “because they were pedophiles.” She allegedly said all officials in Washington were about to be indicted and that they were all “going down.”
“Anytime a threat is made against the president, it has to be reported to the FBI,” said Kirk. “It’s their job to investigate and decide if the threat is credible and if the president is in danger. We certainly do not take situations like this lightly. You never know what is truly in someone’s mind and what they may plan to do.”
While speaking about this situation and how it began, the sheriff cautioned about the dangers of residents taking in someone they know nothing about. He stressed the importance of those with elderly family members who live alone being diligent to ensure they do not fall prey to scams.
“There’s hardly a day that goes by that my office doesn’t receive a call about a phone scam where the caller is trying to solicit money, and more often than not, the calls are targeting elderly residents,” Kirk said. “As far as taking someone into your home and letting them live with you, you are compromising your safety, your well-being and definitely your financial security. There’s no guarantee that it won’t end badly. Unless you truly know someone and fully trust them, never take anyone at face value, especially someone who isn’t even from this area.”
Kadar was transported to the Big Sandy Regional Detention Center where she remained Tuesday.
An investigation is underway by federal officials to determine whether the threat to the president’s life warrants charges being added to the state’s case.
This is a developing story.
