Rufus J. Reed
1981—2026

Rufus J. Reed, age 45, of Lenore, West Virginia, passed away April 21, 2026, at his residence.

Born Jan. 12, 1981, he was the son of the late Arnold Reed of Lovely, Kentucky.

Rufus is survived by his mother, Joann Reed and his stepfather, Jackie Blackburn of Inez;  his beloved wife, Heather Reed of Lenore; five daughters, Tiffany Kirk (Cameron) of Lowmansville, Kentucky, Brook (Gregory) Branham of Williamson, Amber Reed of Warfield, Kentucky, Keiarah (Caleb) Reed of Kermit and Chelsea Reed of Lenore; one son, Ben Reed of Lenore; three brothers, Daniel (Renee) Kazee and Ralph (May) Reed, both of Lovely, Kentucky, Jimmy (Amanda) Reed of Beauty, Kentucky; one granddaughter, Sophia Prince of Warfield, Kentucky; his step-mother, Rebecca May Reed of Warfield, Kentucky; one step-sister, Beth Reed of Warfield, Kentucky; and one step-brother, Harvey (Lee) Lowry of Youngstown, Ohio. Rufus is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews; friends who were like family; and several others who called him “Papaw.”

Rufus was a member of the Masons in Williamson. 

Funeral services were held Sunday, April 26, 2026, at the Wolf Creek Community Church with Ellis Maynard officiating. Burial followed at the Ranson and Mary S. Moore Cemetery in Inez, Kentucky. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the funeral home to assist with funeral expenses. Arrangements are under the direction of Crum Funeral Home in Inez, Kentucky.
