Maci Maynard turned in one of the most efficient and productive seasons in Kentucky girls’ high school basketball, earning honorable mention honors on the Lexington Herald-Leader Girls’ All-State Team.

Selected by coaches from across the state, the recognition places Maynard among the state’s top performers following a dominant campaign for the Martin County Lady Cardinals.

Maynard averaged 15.5 points per game while shooting a remarkable 60.3% from the field, ranking seventh among the state’s top 50 field goal leaders. Her efficiency and consistency made her a focal point of the Lady Cardinals’ offense throughout the season.

Perhaps most impressive was Maynard’s consistency. She recorded 19 double-doubles in 24 games this season, underscoring her ability to impact both scoring and rebounding on a nightly basis. She scored 20 or more points in seven games and reached at least 15 points in 13 contests. On the boards, she grabbed 15 or more rebounds in eight games.

Even in the five games where she fell short of a double-double, Maynard still reached double figures in one statistical category in three of those outings, further highlighting her steady production.

The brickhouse in the middle finished with 21 points and 24 rebounds Dec. 2 in a 77-59 win over Shelby Valley to capture the Martin County High School record for the highest-scoring double-double recorded.

The sophomore averaged 12.7 rebounds per game (good for 13th in the state). She finished with a team-high 303 total rebounds.

Maynard added a 71.5% mark from the free-throw line to showcase her all-around offensive reliability.
