INEZ — As spring planting season begins, Big Sandy Area Community Action Program is offering local families a chance to grow their own gardens at home through its Garden Seed Program set for April 6-10.

The program will provide eligible households with a $50 voucher to purchase seeds, fertilizer and/or plants for a home garden, giving families a helping hand as they prepare for the growing season.

Assistance will be available on a first-come, first-served basis until funds are exhausted.

To qualify, households must be at or below 200% of the federal poverty level.

Applications must be completed in person at each county’s service office.

Applicants will need to provide eligibility documents, including proof of income, proof of physical address and Social Security numbers for all household members.
