INEZ — Martin County Public Library trustees Monday forwarded the names of Heather Perry and Jason James to the state as finalists for one of two open seats on the library board.

The board reviewed four applications for the vacancy created by the expiration of John R. Triplett’s term. Richard Young and James Jarrett also applied.

Under the appointment process required by the Kentucky Department for Libraries and Archives, the library board must submit two applicants for each vacancy. The state reviews the applications and sends a recommendation to Martin County Judge/Executive Lon Lafferty, who then selects a nominee. The Martin County Fiscal Court must approve the appointment before the seat is filled.

Earlier this month, trustees submitted the names of Jessica Preece and Gina Patrick for a separate vacancy created by the expiration of Kathleen Stepp’s term. That seat remains unfilled.

The current trustees are Maurice Mills, Barry Webb and Sheila Maynard.

The board of trustees meets on the fourth Monday of the month at 5:30 at the Collier Center.
