HAMLIN, W.Va. — The Tug Valley offense was on track against Class AAA Lincoln County, but it was not enough as the Panthers lost a road game 10-7 on April 22.
Three Tug Valley players had two hits: Conner Lackey, Gage Whitt and Julian Vance.
After taking an early lead in the top of the first inning, Tug Valley saw Lincoln gain a big 7-2 lead in the bottom of the first frame.
Bralin Peters picked up the mound win for Lincoln County. Ashton Smith took the loss for TV and Zack Hall came on in relief.
Isaac Byrd had a pair of hits and 5 RBIS for LCHS to lead his team in offense.
Tug Valley 2, St. Joe 0
HUNTINGTON, W.Va. — Conner Lackey struck out 10 batters and pitched Tug Valley to a 2-0 complete game shutout win over Huntington St. Joe on Tuesday, April 23. He gave up six hits to the Irish but held them scoreless.
Lackey had an RBI to help his own cause on the mound. Austin Smith, Ashton Smith, Gage Whitt and Julian Vance all had base hits for the Panthers. Ashton Smith stole three bases for TVHS.
Wyatt Pence took the loss on the hill for St. Joe. Beau Farley and Brody Runyon both had two hits for the home team.
Logan 14, Tug Valley 5
LOGAN, W.Va. — Tug Valley took an early lead but could not hold off Class AAA Logan, falling 14-5 on April 24 at Midelburg Island in Logan.
Zack Hall singled and came around to score in the top of the first inning. In the top of the second Chandler Copley and Julian Vance both had RBI base hits to give the Panthers the lead.
Tug Valley tacked on another run in the third frame as Austin Smith brought in a run with a ground-out.
The Wildcats took the lead at 7-5 in the fifth, scoring five runs. Logan then broke the game wide open with seven more runs in the bottom of the sixth inning.
William Bryant got the win for Logan on the mound in relief of Peyton Ilderton, while Dakota Ooten took the loss for the Panthers.
Offensively, Adam Baisden drove in five runs for Logan, including a big triple, while Luke Blankenship went 3-for-3.
Scott 15, Tug Valley 9
NAUGTUCK, W.Va. — The Scott Skyhawks won a slugfest against Tug Valley Thursday, downing the Panthers 15-9 at Don Spence Field in Naugatuck.
Scott took the early lead in the top of the first inning but Tug Valley fought back to take the lead.
The early rally saw Zack Hall and Chandler Copley single and Conner Lackey smacking a double for the Panthers.
The Skyhawks took a 7-6 lead in the top of the fourth inning. The Panthers regained the lead at 9-7 thanks to an error and a single by Lackey.
Scott flipped the game in the sixth frame with a big 8-run rally, taking a commanding 15-9 lead.
Carter McClung led several Skyhawks with multiple hits going 4-4.
Lackey led TVHS with three hits, including a pair of doubles.
