Martin County dominates Tolsia

NAUGATUCK, W.Va. — Martin County scored seven runs in the third inning to defeat Tolsia 13-2 Saturday in baseball action at Tug Valley’s Don Spence Field in Naugatuck.

The Cardinals got on the board in the top of the first inning due to an error, a double by Ryan Stephens and a single by Hunter Moore, each driving in a run. They extended their lead in the second inning, scoring on a wild pitch and a single by Chase Stacy.

Aiden Mann secured the win on the mound, giving up two hits and two runs over five innings while striking out nine and walking one. Peyton Muncy took the loss for Tolsia.

Stephens notched three hits and two RBIs. Senior Brock Messer was perfect at the plate, going 3-for-3 with a double and two singles, driving in one run. Stacy and Moore each recorded two singles and contributed two RBIs. Damian Cheek hit a double, while Knox Maynard and Skyler Morrison each added a single.

Messer led in base-stealing with two, while Mann, Stacy, Moore, Stephens, Cheek, Bryson Osborne and Dylan Spence each stole a base.
