Tug Valley baseball falls to Ravenswood

RAVENSWOOD, W.Va. — Ravenswood defeated Tug Valley 8-3 on the diamond April 15 in a road game for the Panthers.

The Red Devils jumped out to a 6-0 lead after one inning and scored two more runs for a comfortable advantage. The Panthers scored a pair of runs in the fifth inning after scoring one in the third.

Zack Hall led TVHS at the plate with two hits, while Julian Vance had a hit and one RBI. Gage Whitt, Conner Lackey and Austin Smith also had base hits for the Panthers.

Vance took the loss on the mound for Tug Valley.

Logan Allred picked up the win on the hill for Ravenswood. The Red Devils pounded out seven hits and took advantage of seven walks given up by TVHS pitchers.

Brady Swain and Evan Swain led Ravenswood with two hits each.

Logan 5, Tug Valley 2

NAUGATUCK, W.Va. — Tug Valley returned to the friendly confines of Don Spence Field at Naugatuck on April 16 to host Class AAA Logan.

The Wildcats out-clawed the Panthers 5-2 in a hard-fought game.

Gage Whitt, Ashton Smith, Chandler Copley and Dakota Ooten had hits for Tug Valley.

McCormick Ilderton picked up the pitching win for Logan, while Conner Lackey took the loss for Tug Valley.

Adam Baisden had a hit and a couple of RBIs for the Wildcats. Tanner Akers, Luke Blankenship and Ilderton also had big hits for Logan.

Tug Valley saw its record drop to 6-9 on the season.

Wyoming East 5, Tug Valley 4

CLEAR FORK, W.Va. — Tug Valley lost another close game losing 5-4 to Wyoming East on April 17.

The Panthers’ comeback fell just short after they got behind early. The Warriors took an early lead when Ryan Mills brought home a run with a single. The home team added runs in the second and third frames to take a 3-0 lead.

Zack Hall took the loss on the mound for the Panthers. Hall only gave up three runs and one was earned, striking out eight batters. He helped his own cause with a home run in the game.

Conner Lackey also had a base hit and RBI for TVHS.

Jarrid Phillips picked up the win for Wyoming East in relief. Mike Smith started the game for the Warriors and did not allow any runs.

The home team banged out nine hits in the win.

Tug Valley 7, Sherman 4

SETH, W.Va. — Tug Valley got back on the winning track April 18 with a 7-4 victory over the Sherman Tide in Boone County.

The Panthers took an early lead after a single by Gage Whitt brought in a run. The Tide took a 3-1 lead in the bottom of the first inning.

Zack Hall’s single in the second tied the game at 3-3 for TVHS.

A base hit by Brayden Hamrick gave Sherman the lead in the bottom of the second frame.

Whitt had an RBI ground out in the third inning that helped Tug Valley tie the game in the top of the inning.

Tug Valley took the lead in the fourth. Julian Vance smacked a double to bring in a run and was able to score later on an error by the Tide to give the Panthers a 6-4 advantage.

Austin Smith picked up the pitching win on the mound for TVHS. Luke Tagilente took the loss for the Tide.
