Two cited for criminal littering

CITIZEN STAFF REPORT

INEZ — The Martin County Sheriff’s Office issued citations for criminal littering to two residents, one for burning garbage and another for throwing a cigarette butt on the ground.

Mary Eliza Mullins of Tomahawk was cited Thursday after Deputy John C. Kirk, responding to a strong odor emanating from an outside fire, discovered the resident burning trash on her property. The deputy’s visit was initially meant to address a separate complaint. He noted in his report that Mullins “admitted several times to burning garbage.”

Regina G. Damron of Warfield was cited March 30 on Beauty Road after she threw a cigarette butt down in front of Sheriff John H. Kirk.
