INEZ — A Tomahawk man has accepted a plea agreement for his role in a fatal crash that occurred in April 2022 on Old Route 3.

Timothy Ramey II, 20, pleaded guilty to reckless homicide resulting in the death of 15-year-old Brenda Maynard of Inez.

The tragic incident unfolded around 4:30 a.m. April 3, 2022, when Ramey, behind the wheel of a 1998 Ford Mustang, lost control on Old Route north of Inez. The car left the road and flipped over, ejecting Maynard from the back seat.

The Martin County coroner pronounced Maynard dead at the scene.

Originally indicted by a Martin County grand jury in January 2023 on a charge of second-degree manslaughter for wanton behavior leading to Maynard’s death, Ramey’s plea agreement, officially entered by the court March 22, suggests a four-year prison sentence.
