SALYERSVILLE — Police arrested two men and seized a cache of illegal drugs at a traffic safety checkpoint March 7 in Salyersville.

Kentucky State Police troopers and the Post 9 Drug Interdiction Unit confiscated approximately 75 grams of suspected fentanyl, 1 pound of suspected marijuana, an ounce of suspected cocaine, drug paraphernalia and a firearm.

Armando Elizondo, 24, from Lexington, faces charges of trafficking a controlled substance (cocaine), trafficking marijuana, possession of a handgun by a convicted felon, and traffic-related offenses.

Chad Wallen, 41, of East Point, was also arrested on charges of trafficking a controlled substance (fentanyl) and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Both men are in the Big Sandy Regional Detention Center following their arrest.
