Kindergarten registration and screening dates announced

Kindergarten registration and screening dates are set for Martin County children entering kindergarten for the 2024-2025 school year.

Children entering kindergarten must be 5 years old on or before Aug. 1, 2024. If a child’s birthdate falls between Aug. 1 and Sept. 30 and the parent believes the child is ready for kindergarten, they may complete a petition for early entry to kindergarten at the school. The student will have to meet kindergarten readiness on the BRIGANCE Kindergarten Screener in order to be enrolled. This screener will be administered 15 days before the first day of school for early entrance.

Registration and screening for students (5 years old on or before Aug. 1) entering kindergarten is scheduled as follows:

Warfield Elementary – Tuesday, April 9, from 8:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m.

Inez Elementary – Wednesday, April 10, from 8:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m.

Eden Elementary – Thursday, April 11, from 8:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m.

Parents need to bring these items:

1. Child’s immunization (shot) certificate 

2. Vision evaluation completed by an optometrist or ophthalmologist

3. Child’s official birth certificate

4. Child’s physical 

5. Child’s Social Security card

Students will be screened on the same day in the following areas:

• School Readiness

• Speech-Language

• Hearing

Head Start/state-funded preschool representatives will be available to take applications for the 2024-2025 school year on these days and locations as well.
