WELCH, W.Va. — The Tug Valley Panthers rolled to another victory over the Mount View Knights 42-7 in a road game Friday in Welch.
The Panthers led 14-0 after one quarter and 42-0 at halftime. In the second half the coaches agreed just to play two six-minute quarters.
Buddy Marcum and Bryson Elia each scored two touchdowns for Coach Hady Ford’s squad. Ashton Davis and Adam Slone also scored TDs, while Aiden Bosserman kicked six extra points.
Quarterback Preston May was 10-12 passing for 158 yards and three touchdowns.
Austin Smith led TVHS with six tackles on defense, while Adam Slone had five in a good team defensive effort to shut out the Knights.
“We played well against Mount View. We had a lot of players get involved in the offense. Preston May threw the ball good this week,” Coach Ford said.
“Our defense played well again. Dakoda Walker probably had his best game all year defensively. Adam Slone came up and made a few big hits. Several players just continuing to get better each week.” Ford added.
“Hopefully over the next few weeks we keep improving and put ourselves in a good position come playoff time,” Ford concluded.
Tug Valley, Class A, was ranked No.8 last week in the WVSSAC poll, which determines the playoffs in West Virginia. The Panthers are now 6-1. They play at Westside Friday and then at No. 2 Man Oct. 27.
