GRAYSON — Authorities have identified three suspects, all from Cincinnati, Ohio, arrested following a fatal shooting that left two people dead and another critically injured Friday afternoon in South Williamson.
The suspects — 22-year-old Jolon McCree, 26-year-old Devon Overstreet and 25-year-old Joshua Pack — were apprehended after a high-speed chase that began in Carter County and ended in Lewis County.
Trooper Michael Coleman, the public relations officer for Kentucky State Police Post 9 in Pikeville, reported that after the shooting at a residence on KY 292 near the junction of U.S. 119 in Pike County, the trio fled the scene in a white 2015 Dodge Charger. It was later established the vehicle was stolen from the shooting victim who survived.
Following the incident, KSP issued a “be on the lookout” (BOLO) alert for the vehicle.
The Lewis County Herald reported Friday that the county’s dispatch center was informed shortly after 3 p.m. of an ongoing chase underway in Carter County and approaching Lewis County on the Grayson Spur. The publication reported that Lewis County deputies became involved in the chase, which saw speeds exceeding 100 miles per hour and the suspect vehicle at times driving directly into oncoming traffic. The chase terminated near Town Branch Road on the Grayson Spur.
The suspects were taken into custody and later booked at the Carter County Detention Center. They currently face charges related to the auto theft and chase, but additional charges related to the shooting are anticipated, according to Trooper Coleman.
McCree is charged with first-degree wanton endangerment, first-degree fleeing or evading police, theft by unlawful taking or disposition of an automobile, speeding by 26 miles per hour or more, and driving on the wrong side of the road.
Overstreet faces charges of theft by unlawful taking or disposition (auto) and first-degree fleeing or evading police in a motor vehicle.
Pack’s charges include possession of a controlled substance (fentanyl), theft by unlawful taking or disposition (auto), and first-degree fleeing or evading police in a motor vehicle.
