Martin County volleyball falls to Pikeville in All-A

PIKEVILLE — Martin County girls volleyball faced a challenging matchup against the Pikeville Panthers in the first round of the 15th Region All-A Volleyball Classic on Aug. 31, falling 25-14 and 25-13. The tournament was hosted at Shelby Valley High School.

The format for the All-A Classic games featured single-elimination matches, where the team that won the best out of three sets would advance to the next round.

In the opening set, the Lady Cards kept it close. The score went back and forth before the Panthers managed to pull away and ultimately defeat the Lady Cardinals by a score of 25-14.

The Lady Cards were determined to regroup and mount a comeback in the second set.

However, in the second set, the Pikeville Lady Panthers again demonstrated their athletic ability. They used their strength at the net, overpowering the Lady Cardinals and finishing with 26 kills.

The Lady Cards had five kills, 32 digs and five assists as a team.

On the other side of the net, the Pikeville Lady Panthers asserted their control at the net with 26 kills, eight service aces, 26 assists and 24 digs.
