ARLINGTON — Jake James, a standout senior golfer at Martin County, excelled in two golf tournaments Aug. 7 and 8.
On Aug. 7, James played in the Model Boys Invitational hosted by the University Club of Arlington. He faced a challenging course and stiff competition, carding a solid 84 for the round.
“Jake never finished as well as he would have liked, but the experience he is gaining is very valuable,” Martni County coach Boo Newsome said.
There was no time to waste. James packed up, headed to another tournament, and was back on a different course the next day, Aug. 8, in the 25th Annual Flyer Classic at Juniper Hills Golf Course.
With the pressure on, the senior rose to the occasion, posting an impressive score of 80.
“Jake’s ability to adapt and manage a course he has never played on speaks highly of his potential,” Martin County Newsome added, applauding James’ determination. “His work ethic and commitment to work on his game and play in these tough tournaments will only make him better.”
