Fire destroys home at Marrowbone Creek

Fire completely destroyed this home on Marrowbone Creek near Kermit. The Kermit VFD responded to the blaze. The Warfield VFD provided mutual aid.

MARROWBONE CREEK, W.Va. — The Kermit Volunteer Fire Department received a 911 call Tuesday morning around 6:40 a.m. for a structure fire on the Left Fork of Marrowbone Creek near Kermit.

Firefighters arrived on the scene to see the home fully engulfed in flames. No injuries were reported, but the house was listed as a total loss.

The KVFD responded with a full crew of volunteer firemen, three fire engine trucks and a mutual aid water tanker truck from the Warfield Volunteer Fire Department out of Martin County, Kentucky.

According to the KVFD the home belonged to Sherry Maynard. A spokesman for the department said the home was a total loss and the family lost everything. Maynard is the manager of the Zip Zone convenience store in Inez, Kentucky, according to the spokesman for the KVFD.
