Inez defeats Warfield, Blaine

INEZ — The Inez Indians garnered two wins last week against Blane and Warfield.

Below is a recap of last week’s action:

Warfield at Inez — The Indians picked up a 21-19 in-county win over the Red Devils in a game Sept. 19 in Inez.

Mia James scored in double digits to lead Inez with 12 points. Emily Mills hit nylon for two buckets in the first half for four points. KB Muncy knocked down three points and Mallory Hale added two.

Anna Hinkle led the way with eight points for Warfield, Jazz Jude dropped six points, Mary Scott had four, and Annabelle Gess hit from the free throw line for one.

“We struggled in the beginning, played slow and struggled to get our offense set up,” Inez head coach Alison Scott said. “But they came back out after halftime and were ready to play. They started rebounding well and finally got our offense set up. They came back after being down and never quit. I’m super proud of them.”

Inez also won the B-team contest 26-14. Kenleigh Estep racked up eight points. Harper Runyon and Maddie G. picked up four, Kinslee Callaham, Bradlynn Stafford, Kara Preeceand Hope Caldwell each added two points.

Hazelena Speakman, Elizabeth Dials and Payzlee Fletcher gathered four points each for Warfield, while Morgan Dove had two points.

The Indians won the C-team game 8-5 behind four points from Jaylea Maynard and two apiece from Emily Mooney and Macie Callaham.

Desirae Evans had all five of Warfield’s points.

Inez at Blaine — Inez made the long haul to Blaine and came away with a 20-6 A team win Sept. 15.

For the Indians, Mia James hit 10 points from the field, Emily Mills dropped in four, and Mallory Hale, Kenleigh Estep and Harper Runyon had two each.

The B-team won 16-10, with Runyon and Estep scoring six points apiece and Adrienne Stumbo and Aubree Muncy adding two each.

The C-team lost 8-10. Jalynn McGinnis had four points, while Macie Callaham and Emily Mooney put two each on the scoreboard.
