Ruth Ann (Maynard) Reed

1943—2022

Ruth Ann Reed, 79, of Inez, passed away Sept. 4, 2022, at Three Rivers Medical Center in Louisa.

Born March 18, 1943, in Martin County, she was the daughter of the late Richard and Donna Maynard. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her daughter, Claudetta Horn, several brothers and sisters, and one grandchild, Kenneth Shoptaw.

She is survived by two sons, Rufus Randy Carter and Ricky Carter, both of Tomahawk; four daughters, Kathy Carter Shoptaw, Rose Marie Carter and Donna Blair, all of Tomahawk, and Nona Stacy of Inez; four brothers, Jimmy Maynard of Tomahawk, Junior Maynard of Paintsville and Arthur Ray Maynard and Bob Maynard, both of Inez; and two sisters, Elsie Mills of Tomahawk and Jean Horn of Louisa. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren, Chris Blair, Brittany Nicole Blair, Jessica Cook, Jasper Stacy, Ricky Lee Carter, Junior Stacy, Carmel Stacy, Claudetta Mills, Johnny Dale Mills, Linda Mills and Robin Mollett; and 13 great-grandchildren, Maddi Crace, Carson Blair, Bryson Crace, Maicie Blair, Oaklyn Blair, Zoey Cook, Zayden Cook, Sadie Lynn Carter, Kierstin Mills, Homer Mills, Landon Mills, Bella Mills and Mckenzie Preston.

Funeral services were conducted Thursday, Sept. 8, 2022, at Crum Funeral Home in Inez, with Sam Patrick officiating. Burial was at the Maynard Cemetery, under the direction of Crum Funeral Home.
