Bird’s Eye View: We perform well

Welcome back to this week’s edition of the Cardinal Bird’s Eye View.

It has been a very exciting week at Martin County High School. We are coming off another very successful prom. Students showed up, all of them in their best attire, and were ready to dance the night away. From the grand march to the announcement of Miss and Mr. Senior, it was overall a very exciting night.

Our school offers many different programs, and the one that stands out the most would have to be our JAG program. Our students are always overachieving, and they have something to show for it. Fellow JAG students, Kaylee Harless, Sophie McCoy, Bailey Dials, Anesa Blanton and Sara Davis are all representing MCHS JAG on the JAG NCDC trip to Dallas. They will all be competing for awards on the national level. We want to wish you the best of luck with them!

Not only do we perform well in our programs, but we also perform in our sports.

Our spotlight team this week is the MCHS baseball team. Led by coach Wesley Hager, the Cardinals are off to a great start. The team is coming off a very crucial win against the Magoffin County Hornets. The Cards put all aspects of the game together and they came out with the win.

The Cards have a tough schedule for the remainder of the season, so they have to continue to work together to get some wins and put up a good record. We would also like to wish them the best of luck for their upcoming games!

Many of our students have been participating in a community-made project known as “Stories of Place.” With the partnership of the University of Kentucky, as well as LiKEN Knowledge, students have been creating stories to tell about Martin County for the citizens of Martin County.

Ms. Taylor True, Mr. Jordan Horn, Mrs. Marcie Hanson, and Mr. Lance Tackett have assigned their students to participate in this project. These stories are meant for the citizens of Martin County. These stories will be saved on the Stories of Place website, martincountystories.org.

We hope everyone has a fantastic rest of their week. Be on the lookout for our news show in the coming weeks.
