Martin County Middle School soccer was back to training and games after a week off for spring break. The Lady Cards won a big district matchup against Johnson Central 2-0.
The Lady Cards have played well this season and hoped to continue their winning streak against the Eagles. They struggled to move the ball for much of the first half. Instead, they were on the defensive, trying to keep JC away from the goal. The Cardinal defense worked hard and ended the half with neither team able to score.
Martin County Coach Steven Gauze made some adjustments in the second half, and the Lady Cards began finding a rhythm on offense. A penalty by the Lady Eagles led to a free kick scored by Faith Caldwell and a 1-0 Martin County lead.
