Notes from Calvary: Becoming Christian Part 3

“Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy. But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you; That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust.” Matthew 5:43-45

Do you want to be a child who pleases your Heavenly Father? Well, according to Matthew chapter 5, one of the best ways you can do that is to emulate the love of your Father and do good for those that are purposely not good to you! Now, most on the planet today would protest with a hardy, “Yeah right, Jesus, are you for real with this?” Why? Because we all know that loving those that hate us is the total opposite of what our human nature compels us to do. The thing is, Jesus is for real with this commandment (not suggestion) because he knows that if we tap into his nature, we can love like he loved and that love can change the world around us.
