PSC gives Kermit water project the green light
BY ROGER SMITHMOUNTAIN CITIZEN KERMIT — The West Virginia Public Service Commission gave Kermit’s water improvement project the green light. Mayor Charles Sparks announced in a Kermit Council meeting Monday that the PSC issued an order Nov. 29 granting a certificate of convenience and necessity and approving the proposed funding for the $3.4 million project.

Man who shot neighbor sentenced to five years
BY ROGER SMITHMOUNTAIN CITIZEN INEZ — A man who shot his neighbor following an argument on the CB radio a year ago was sentenced Friday in Martin Circuit Court to five years in prison. Noah Bowen Jr., 67, of Inez, pleaded guilty Oct. 4 to second-degree assault. Bowen was initially charged with first-degree assault Nov.
