Pumpkins go pink to promote Breast Cancer Awareness Month
INEZ — A few jack-o-lanterns took a detour from the usual scare tactics this October. Youth at Freedom Freewill Baptist Church used them to promote Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The youth painted their pumpkins pink and decorated them Oct. 23 in Children’s Church in the Painting Pumpkins Pink Contest to spread awareness of the disease.

BY ROGER SMITHMOUNTAIN CITIZEN INEZ — A Martin County grand jury returned 14 true bills against 13 individuals Thursday. Six indictments involve methamphetamine and two separate indictments accuse suspects of attempting to assault a Martin County Sheriff’s deputy.
