KERMIT, W.Va. — The Kermit Fall Festival brought a big crowd Saturday to Kermit Park and lifted the town’s spirits.

Kermit Councilwoman Anna Mae Sartin said she believes it was one of the best festivals the town has had.

“It was amazing to be there,” Sartin said.

Councilwoman Tammy Preece Hodge, who spearheaded the event, agreed.

“As the ole saying goes, ‘you are only as good as those around you,’” Hodge said. “All I can say is Kermit has the best people ever who love this little town.”

The crisp, sunny fall day started with vendors setting up around 9:30.

The parade lined up at 11:30 a.m. and traveled down Mingo Street and Route 52, where folks lined up to watch.

The rest of the day was filled with music, food, friends and activities for everyone at Kermit Park.

Hodge said the festival couldn’t have taken place without the help of many — the Kermit Fire Department, Mayor Charles Sparks and the Kermit Council, Booie Williams, Hawkie and Janet Preece, Lola and Wally Preece, Louie and Felicia Messer, Doug Collins, Caressa Muncy, Kesheia Matheny, T&K Grocery, Kermit Western Auto, John David Messer, Misty Williams, Chafin Law Office, Anna Mae Sartin Wellman, Owen Hinkle, Ralph Parsley and all of the vendors.

“Thanks to all,” said Hodge. “I cannot wait to start planning for next year. And a big thank-you to Doug Kirk for coming back down at the close of the day to help clean up.”
