The Power of Remembrance Part 3

BY GREG CRUM

“And Peter calling to remembrance saith unto him, Master, behold, the fig tree which thou cursedst is withered away. And Jesus answering saith unto them, Have faith in God. For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith.” Mark 11:21-23

There’s just something about bringing to the Lord’s attention what He has done and what He said He would do that allows mountain-moving faith to flourish in our lives! Peter learned this lesson that day the disciples marveled at the quick work Jesus’ words did to dry up the fig tree he had cursed just the day prior. It was a lesson that Peter deemed so important to spiritual success that toward the end of his natural life, he passed it on to the generations of believers to follow.

In II Peter chapters 1 and 3, we read of the ability of “remembrance” to “stir up” the good that is in us and to motivate us to believe the Lord for great things in our lives. Thinking back on what the Lord has done in our lives gives us the foundation to trust Him for even greater things in our future.
