Flu shots, COVID-19 bivalent boosters available at Martin County Health Department

INEZ — Martin County Health Department announced flu shots and new COVID-19 bivalent boosters are available.

The health department is taking walk-ins for flu shots for ages 6 months and older. Residents 65 years and older who need the high-dose flu shot should call to schedule an appointment.

The health department is now scheduling appointments for the Moderna and Pfizer bivalent COVID boosters. To be eligible, you must have completed the primary series and had your last dose at least two months earlier.

According to the CDC, the updated COVID-19 boosters are formulated to better protect against the most recently circulating variants. They also help restore protection that has waned since previous vaccination.

The Moderna booster is available to individuals 18 years and older. Pfizer’s booster is for those 12 years and older.
