The Power of Remembrance

BY GREG CRUM

“I, even I, am he that blotteth out thy transgressions for mine own sake, and will not remember thy sins. Put me in remembrance: let us plead together: declare thou, that thou mayest be justified.” Isaiah 43:25-26

Thank the Lord there are some things God promises to “forget,” and others He promises He never will! According to this passage in Isaiah 43, God chooses to do the impossible really. He chooses to “forget” the sins we’ve committed toward Him and man.

Now, we understand that it’s impossible for God to literally forget anything, but He relays here in Isaiah that in His mercy He chooses not to count those sins against us, as if, at least in His consciousness, they never occurred. What’s more, we see here in these couple of verses that there are some things that God wants us to remind Him of, things He doesn’t want us to let Him “forget.”

Again, how could the Almighty forget anything? He can’t, but we see here the power of returning God’s Word to Him and its role in bringing His Word to pass in this Earth.
