Hello, Martin County Cardinals. The Bird’s Eye View is back for another week, and we’ve got plenty going on around MCHS. From big wins to exciting things happening around school, there’s always something to celebrate.
Here’s what’s been happening this week.
The Cardinal football team had a big win in the Pike County Bowl against Pike Central. After a tough start to the season, the Cardinals bounced back and brought home the victory. It was a great night for the team and everyone who came out to support them.
Our Lady Cards soccer team also had a weekend worth celebrating. The team traveled to Gatlinburg, Tennessee, to compete in the Smoky Mountain Cup and came home as champions. They played hard, worked together, and proudly represented Martin County. Congratulations to the Lady Cards on an awesome tournament and a well-earned championship.
The excitement doesn’t stop there. The Cardinals kicked off their first home football game of the season against Betsy Layne on Friday, Sept. 4. Along with the excitement on the field, the game marked another big first for MCHS — the first live football broadcast by the Cardinal Broadcasting team.
JAG KY students Desirae Gullett and Jayla Savage stepped behind the microphones to provide live commentary throughout the game. They did a great job bringing the action and Cardinal spirit to viewers watching from home.

A big shoutout to Gullett and Savage for representing MCHS and JAG KY and helping make Cardinal Broadcasting’s first football broadcast a success.
There’s even more happening around MCHS. The cast for our upcoming “Annie JR.”musical has officially been announced, with both the Blue Cast and Red Cast ready to take the stage. Everyone has been working hard and getting excited for the show, so we can’t wait to see what they put together. Be sure to support our cast and crew as they get ready to bring “Annie JR.” to life. More information will be published soon.
There’s also something else worth celebrating at MCHS. Our school is continuing its fight-free school initiative, encouraging students to make positive choices and help create a safer and more welcoming environment for everyone. Let’s keep up the good work, Cards.
